Dear Parents and Friends of
YNJ,
I am excited to let you know
that at this years annual dinner, we will be presenting Allen and Miriam
Pfeiffer with a Presidential Leadership Award and Mrs. Estelle Alter with a
Lifetime Service Award.
For the past few years, first as a Board member, then as an Executive Board
member, and finally as our President, Allen has been actively involved in all
aspects of our Yeshiva. His dedication, infectious enthusiasm, and belief that
even perfection can be improved upon, set the tone for our entire parent body.
Miriam, in addition to putting up with Allen, has been instrumental in the
success of our Scholarship Reception, Cafι Night, Prospective Parents Night and
Chinese Auction. Together, Miriam and Allen are role models for so many of us in
the YNJ community.
Estelle Alter is, simply put, a YNJ legend. She understood her job as doing
anything and everything necessary to make every student, parent, teacher and
administrator feel cared for. This involved, at different times, acting as
school Mommy, school nurse, chief procurement officer, waitress, executive
director and - please keep this a secret Principal and Dean.
For over thirty years, as YNJ grew from a Yeshiva with fewer than one hundred
students in multiple basements to a Yeshiva of more than nine hundred students
on an eight-acre campus, Estelle set an example of tireless dedication. All
this, while arriving before 7:00 a.m. each school day to make sure everything
was set for the day ahead. The truth is, if you look at her hours, Estelle
deserves two Lifetime Service Awards!
